Meet Elise

HELLO! I'm Elise, a youth coach and mentor for young children, tweens and teens located in Greenwood, Western Australia.

Sometimes, despite our best efforts as parents, our children need that someone extra to talk to. I am THAT person.

That person to listen. Without judgement. With understanding and empathy.

I offer 1:1 coaching and group workshops for children aged 5 – 16 and in time, will provide free resources for download. Just excuse me as I’m still growing into this space too.

I am of the belief that if we take proactive steps to protect a young person’s mental health, then we are increasing the chances of them enjoying a positive emotional wellbeing in their futures. Through promoting awareness of being mentally healthy, building their resilience and coping mechanisms and practicing self-care, they become more mindful and aware of themselves and the world around them.

I have trained in education, work with young children in a school setting and have enjoyed a varied employment history before having my own family. I’m someone who is genuine in nature and one of my greatest strengths is my ability to establish positive relationships. No matter what, I’ll always offer a safe place to chat, give support and encouragement in the personal development of your young people.

My focus is on growing a positive mind set, hence I encourage people to “always look on the bright side of life”. (Cue Monty Python song … surely the chorus has popped into your head now?!)

I’m also about embracing gratitude, creating kindness, healthy relationships, coping with stress, encouraging self-care practices, dealing with change, body appreciation and embracing individuality.

One on One Youth Service

Why would I want to book a session?

As parents, we naturally worry about our children. You might wonder if your child is truly happy on the inside. When you consider youth coaching, NEVER think for one second that you have failed as a parent. It’s completely the opposite!

By taking a “village approach” to supporting your child, you are giving them an opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe and impartial setting. I am not their parent, teacher or friend but a person to whom your child can vent and develop their practical life skills as I support and cheer them on.

I can be hired as your child’s coach OR mentor*.

*A youth coach will guide your child towards a specific goal in their lives. We help the child recognise that they possibly already possess knowledge and skills, it’s just getting them to recognise and build confidence in their own abilities.

A youth mentor assists your child to navigate through life events in general. Examples may include but are not limited to:

  • Set personal goals and work towards achieving them
  • Helping them deal with tricky and troubling issues
  • To build a safety network around your child and help with personalised resources
  • Stress management
  • Boosting their self-worth
  • Building their growth mindset and resilience
  • Emotional regulation
  • Relationship matters including family dynamics and friendships
  • Coping with change
  • Helping your child to feel stronger, happier and healthier
  • Or your child would just like some extra support

Frequently Asked Questions

Well… I don’t have an office but that just keeps me flexible as well as keeping my prices reasonable. I live in Greenwood but will travel to most places to where I’m needed. (Mileage will be agreed upon should it be 20 km outside my suburb). Weather dependent, we can agree to meet in a park, café, library or your house.
If you’re not sure whether Youth Coaching is right for your child, then don’t be shy getting in touch! Elise is happy to be contacted should you have any questions about the process. She will be open and honest if she feels that your child is outside the scope of her skillset, knowledge and training and would be able to recommend a professional if deemed more appropriate. Your young person needs to be agreeable to undertaking the process of coaching or its simply not going to be effective and obviously a waste of your money (which no one wants). It’s something they are committing to and will be required to put in some effort between sessions. BOOK an initial 45 minute ‘Introductory Session’ at a discounted rate of $40 for your child to get to know Elise in a fun and relaxed way. They’ll try conversing or use non-verbal (artistic and creative) methods to discuss how they’re feeling and what’s been going on in their lives. This session is to ensure they’ll be the right fit together.

What happens in a session stays in the session. Just kidding, well sort of. Maintaining confidentiality is crucial for building trust and rapport in mentoring relationships. Confidentiality will only be breached if Elise feels there is a risk of harm to your young person or others, and this will be made clear in the first discussions.

After an Introductory Session, Elise and your child will discuss any changes they might want for themselves. Your child will be in the driver’s seat, so they’ll be empowered to take some control in their self-development. The focus will be on practical skill building and guiding your young person with strategies as they, for example, set goals, make difficult decisions and find solutions to any problems they may be experiencing. Sessions will be tailored to your child’s needs and a brief lesson summary with discussion points will be emailed to parents post session. If there are specific topics you would like covered with your young person, then please simply just ask, so that Elise can weave it into the session. Above all, sessions are about empowering your child to be the best version of themselves!

Would you like your child to continue seeing Elise?

NO? Then I’m genuinely sorry it didn’t work out.

YES! Then there is the option to book in for a SINGLE coaching session or use the code word BRIGHT to receive a 10% discount when you purchase more than 2 sessions.

Session (single) $70

The number of sessions required always varies between young people. Experience suggests at least 4 sessions (one per week for the first month) before gradually reducing and topping up when your child needs further support at different times of their lives.

$252 (4 x 45 minute sessions)
